Arada announces project safety landmarks at its two Sharjah communities

11 August 2020

Arada has successfully reached two safety milestones at its record-breaking projects in Sharjah, Aljada and Nasma Residences.

The developer has achieved 5 million safe man hours without lost time injuries (LTI) at the site of Sharjah’s largest mixed-use megaproject, Aljada, and 10 million safe man hours without LTI at Nasma Residences, the 1,000-unit villa and townhouse community in Al Tay.

The developer reached the landmark at Aljada on 2 July, despite the difficulties of working on an exceptionally complex project site, extreme climate conditions and the variety of different company, contractor, subcontractor, consultant, supplier and security teams based at the 24 million square foot site in Muwaileh, Sharjah.

The major contractors and consultants operating at Aljada include Modern Building Contracting, Intermass, Klampfer Middle East and Arif & Bintoak.

At Nasma Residences, where construction at the community is reaching its final stages, the onsite teams have together logged 10 million safe man hours without LTI.

The major contractors and consultants operating at the Nasma Residences site include Intermass, Klampfer Middle East, MA Kharafi & Sons, Arcadia Middle East, Khatib & Alami and Darwish Engineering Emirates.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, CEO of Arada, said: “Our highest priority is ensuring that every member of jobsite personnel gets home safely every evening, so I am delighted to see us achieve these two landmark moments.

“I congratulate all members of the various teams active on both the Aljada and Nasma Residences sites, as they continue to work towards the safe and secure delivery of these remarkable projects.”

Arada has undertaken a number of steps to implement a thorough and effective health and safety strategy, including the creation of an HSE committee, daily HSE meetings, mass toolbox talks in the presence of management and – last but not least – the careful implementation of effective measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. The onsite teams at both sites have also carried out a series of workshops, training sessions, emergency response drills, audits and evaluations.
